This is our Live weather webcam for Rhos-on-Sea in Conwy. Showing the view out from the front of Plas Rhos House & Seaside Holiday Cottage. Views are facing East over the beach and Colwyn Bay with Rhyl and Prestatyn on the horizon.
You can see the work under way to build a new beach to strengthen sea defences. The £14million scheme has seen the construction of a new rock groyne and approximately one million tonnes of sand deposited on the beach, which sits in front of and adds to the existing seawall to improve coastal defences. Currently further work is underway to revitalise the adjacent promenade. As part of the project, the Council has designed improvements to the promenade, including play areas, a shared pedestrian and cycle route, a seaside pedestrian-only walkway, and new kiosks, shelters and picnic areas. Rhos-on-Sea or Llandrillo-Yn-Rhos Beach is a winner of the prestigious Blue Flag award and is great for swimming, watersports and fishing, with cycling and walking along the coastal track.
As well as a range of sea birds, it is not uncommon for the occasional seal or even a dolphin to be spotted in the bay. A section of beach is sheltered by a breakwater and is popular with families who come here in summer to play in the sand and relax by the water. The Rhyl Flats wind farm can usually be seen out beyond the bay.
